It's been quite a LONG time since I have actually been partially active here on FP and I feel like most of the people I use to communicate with or at least know aren't here anymore D:

It is true that everyday new members join the forum. Members who are here for a long time might get sluggish or visit very rare. Maybe they are more active on other new forums and they just left their impression here. Some may have changed their life, and are too busy to turn on their computer for forum surfing.

It is more like a new job that people come and go, and you meet new members who might be like-minded to discuss and build new relationships.

Why don't you search the usernames of people you used to know when you're on the index page, then it should bring you to the members that have been on within the last 48 hours if they've been online in that time. If not go on a member search spree and see when they last logged in? Seems the most logical thing to do if you want to find someone on here. 🙂

I believe so as well, though I can't remember which hosting company that would've been.

I have worked for a couple and it's never worked out for me which is why I'm starting my own company with a colleague of mine.
