Do smilies matter?

Personally I haaaate new ones. I prefer the ones we saw in forums like somethingawful and nexopia. But they're hard to track down now. What do you prefer?

So you like crappy, low quality images... that’s cool. That’s what you should have on your forum.

Anyway, emoticons don’t matter that much but it’s a fun thing for your members to play around with.

Most forums offer you to upload your own emoticons, you can always make or find someone to make them for you that you like or what 🙂

It depends on your taste fully. As it was mentioned you can create/find the ones you really like and use them.

It's subjective but most people like smileys to some degree - as long as it's not overkill.

If you look for them, I am sure that you'll be able to get a pack of "retro" smilies. My guess is that you're looking for simple flat emoticons?

There are still lots of them around for free if you know where to look. Places like freepik are great as they have vector packs for a lot of things. Even though I could easily make these things myself since I'm a designer, if I need something generic real quick, I check there. You don't have to draw everything yourself. Oh and the nice thing about vectors? You can edit them to your own liking, or make new ones based on them. 😉

In my experience they do. Most members I run in to like smilies quite a bit.

If you don't like the ones you have you can always find or make ones that fit your brand.
