Do you ask for pictures when you chat online with people?

Generally no, but if I'm going to meet them offline like to sell them something from craigslist or to meet up with them for a forum / website meet-up, It would be nice to have a recent picture, so I know how they look like instead of asking everyone 'are you AgentSmith from Craigslist or forumpromotion.net' since the people think I'm nuts if I ask them such a weird question.

If your going to meet up with people from Craigslist to sell your things, my advice to you is to have an adult with you if your under 18. You never know who your meeting with now a days. You may not want your parent(s) with you and make you feel like a little kid, but trust me better safe than sorry. For the picture thing, don't ask for their picture lol. That comes off in a wrong way, just ask for their first name.

I agree if I sell or meet with someone offline. It is safest to bring a adult friend or parent.

Plus, some people might think you are a sexter/pervert if you ask for a picture with all these news stories in the news of teens/young adults trading sexy photos of themselves.

I'd only ask for a picture if I were to go meet someone online offline. That way I'd know if the person had been lying about there identity or not. No picture no meet up. I've also never met anyone offline or have any plans to, for the record. 🙂

I only ask for picture people with who I'm regulary communicating and/or intending to meet them offline, like Joe said, to make sure that they're not lying about their true identity 😉
