I’ve always called it a desktop. When I did a search, some people said there is a difference while others say it’s the same thing.
What do you call it & are they different or the same to you?

I just normally say computer / or Laptop

Both "desktop" and "personal computer (PC)" are terms that are commonly used to refer to computers that are designed for use at a fixed location, rather than being portable devices like laptops or tablets.

The term "desktop" typically refers to a computer that is designed to be used on a desk or other flat surface, and it is often used to distinguish these types of computers from laptops and other portable devices.

The term "personal computer (PC)" is a more general term that can refer to any type of computer that is designed for personal use, including desktops, laptops, and even some tablets. In this sense, "PC" is often used to distinguish these types of computers from servers, mainframes, and other types of computers that are designed for more specialized or business-oriented applications.

Overall, both "desktop" and "personal computer (PC)" are commonly used to refer to computers that are designed for use at a fixed location, and they can be used interchangeably in many contexts.

Well I have a laptop so I call it that. When I had a tower, I called it my computer.

Depends on what you are using and why you are using it more than anything. Desktops are large boxes with heavy and powerful hardware inside and Laptops are almost the same but sizes are smaller in a more easily walk around and traffic. But then again we got Tablets and phones now that you do just bout everything that is even easier to walk and use while shopping or in any location.

I always called it as it is, I have seen and heard people call it tower, but I call it a PC case or desktop, not to mention that with older people that are not good with tech you need to say words so that they understand you know.

I have a laptop which I converted to a desktop. 😛

I call it either PC or computer when I refer to the computers in my home and I am talking to my kids about them as well. The word computer is probably the word used the most though and only every so often will I use the term PC when referring to either mine or my kid's computer. If it's a laptop then we always refer to that as a laptop.

Desktop.

Unless I'm on my laptop then I refer to it as a laptop.

Back in mid 2000s when I was a teen boy, I used to refer to my computer as a laptop because it sounded cool. Presently I just call it a PC because there's so many different platforms out now.

I call it a desktop, because it's on my desk

It's PC that I call it. Desktop sounds old and grumpy in my ears.

I really use them interchangeably. You will catch me calling it a desktop, PC, or computer. Granted, if you pointed to a Tower PC and asked me what it was, I'd most likely say a desktop PC.

Calling it a desktop sounds so strange and unnatural. I prefer to call it a PC. I call even a laptop a PC too.

I call it the desktop, I have a laptop that I use sometimes too. The PC just sounds like an outdated word to me. xD
