When you visit a forum, do you check certain areas for topics & replies or go to New/Recent to see ALL that has been posted?
For many forums, I tend to go to the New/Recent (What’s New) to see if there are some topics I may want to look at. Only a few of them do I just go to specific areas.

I look at the staff boards, the important main boards, and whatever has been quoted or reported on that day. And most of the time there is nothing 😛

I always try to participate in the new discussions, once I have posted on new topics, I check other sections of the forum.

Usually, what's new, so that I can check everything that has been posted since I last visited the forum. Then, if I still have more time, I delve into certain categories that spark my interest.

I'll tend to find specific forums to engage in conversations under that topic, but sometimes I'll check the What's New page. I'll usually check the New Posts page on my forum to try to respond to most conversations

Usually, when I visit a forum, the first thing I look at is the new posts section and I check out the posts in there are reply to any I am wanting to reply to. If after I have checked out the new posts section and seen all I want to see, I will then go to each forum I am interested in and have a look through and read through any threads I may have missed and reply if I feel I am able to.

My first thing, is to go to the boards I want to participate in the most, and check them out individually first. If nothing caught my eye, or if I'm interested in seeing why all boards are active, I will then click on the new posts tab.

I just check everything on FP 🙂 I start at the top or maybe change things around and start in the middle

I tend to check in the "niche sections" first of my forum and other forums (like this one, in this section) and then what's new.

I typically ignore alerts LOL

I'm the opposite. I'll check my alerts first, and then go to the forum overview and track it down from top to bottom.

The "What's New" page is where I basically live. That's how I keep up with all of the currently active topics on the board and as long as I'm active enough, I generally see the title for every topic on the board through that page. I go lurking through the individual forum sometimes to see if I missed anything or to re-read posts, but generally, I'm always using the "What's New" page.

If I'm staff on that particular site, I will hit the staff forums and alerts first, then I click what's new and start reading.

Staff forums always take priority for me, then alerts, then What's New. I like to read everything I can, so I end up everywhere 😀

I always check the new posts it's too bothersome trying to find new replies in the sections.
