I have seen some forum owners ban staff from going "invisible" or "hiding their online status" since it look as if the staff is not active, or rather the forum itself isn't active. So the question be, do you ban your staff from using this feature?

I do, I think it's really good because you don't want members pestering staff when they are online

Absolutely not. They may have a good reason for wanting to be hidden, like if they're doing behind the scenes work and they don't want to be bothered with PMs, etc, so I do not restrict this at all. Will I if it ever becomes abused? Maybe, but that remains to be seen.

I don't mind if they go invisible, course many of us choose not to, I see no reason for it unless you're keeping a close eye on a specific member of the community.

I agree with this. Usually it's a sign of something else that's going on, but if they can keep doing their job well, I don't need to get involved at all.

No. Sometimes when dealing with a problematic member or situation it is needed.

I think sometimes that it is appropriate to be invisible. I just wouldn't want them making a habit of it.

I would have to agree with Vocal. on this one. Generally speaking I think I rather staff members be visible at all times because I like to make members feel like they can always reach out to someone if needed.
