How important is it to have an accurate member count? Do you keep your inactive accounts or do you delete them? If you keep them, is it for the appearance of a higher member count or some other reason?

Some delete inactive accounts, to show the true activity of the forum. And think it's better to have a low member count, and higher post count.

If you delete them, how often and why?

Me personally, I prefer to keep the member count, cause it shows the growth the forum has gained. Even if those members are inactive, its still a part of the history of your forum.

No i don't. I like to keep them there, they may come back who knows. I delete banned members every now and then. Also, i may delete if the forum has been up for a few years and they have never made a post.

I'm thinking of deleting my members with 0 posts once a year.

See, it's something i've never, EVER, thought about doing. i love my mmeber count, but also think it would actually look more active, if i deleted a few of those 0 post accounts. lesser members, but higher post count.

But, i really don't know, cause once i do, i can't take it back 😀

Same here.

I keep all accounts, though I may delete the ones with 0 posts after their accounts have been inactive for a year or more. Otherwise I just like to keep everyone on there.

Well, if you are going to get a review, and the reviewer sees a mess load of inactive accounts, then that would be a big deduction on your review.

I don't really prune accounts until they reach the sort of 6 month marker on being registered, then my prune hammer comes out.

I might prune them I don't know.

There is a user who has still not activated his account for a week, and I was thinking about disabling it, just in case of anything (I'm pretty big on security). Although for now, I don't know...

I'd rather just keep them there instead of pruning them. But I would consider pruning members with 0 posts every 6-12 months.

See, that's what i wanted to know. Even though i would probably lose about 50-75 total members in doing so. I've thought of deleting 0 posts accounts, from the past year.

I just think, as of now, the forum would look better with less members, but more posts

it's still debating in my head, though

I say send out an email to those 0 posters they might have forgotten the URL or something -razz-

if still no sign BAMM delete Prune whatever floats your boat

Nope, I don't. I wouldn't want to ruin the overall member count. ~wink~

I would never delete inactive members. The only bad thing I would do to them is ban them and thats only if they break a rule. -8)-

I never delete inactive accounts, unless they are spam accounts. I won't bother deleting inactive accounts, you never know, there is a tiny chance they might come back and visit some day.
