Do you guest blog, and submit articles on other blogs? It's a good way to bring in some extra traffic for your website. I don't do it because if I'm writing I rather it be for my own site. I should probably start doing it though. But is it worth it? If you do it, was it a significant change in traffic?

I personally do not like guest posting, because you can't effectively crack down on any violations. You can delete the content, but can't always put a name to it. I'm thinking more so for forums, but for blogs I'm sure it could benefit from guest posting, I just wouldn't use it on my sites.

Guest posting can be a nightmare. I haven't experienced it but you never know what guests can do. I have in fact stopped guests from visiting my site and that they must register before posting. It might not stop raids but it's decent enough to prevent spam for a short amount of time.

The only time I've seen guests post are only on advertising sections or to submit affiliates. I even had guest posting enabled myself but only for the intros forum section and this was before any of their accounts would get approved. To allow guest posting anywhere else, is a no-no. Unless you're desperate to have "members" and "posts".

Also that spambots can easily post that way too :muted:

Okay. I'll probably set it so that only guests can post on 1 board per category.

I have done guest posting, however, thata was before I had self hosted blog. With my guest posts, I shared a link t my Amazon book and I did have a couple of sales through the link. In the past few years, I have been very busy on my blog. However, I might return to guest posting soon. You can build backlinks and traffic through guest posting.

Yes sometimes when we get some good relevant blogs to build backlinks and generate traffic.

Guest posting is a good tool to bring some extra traffic to your website. But don't expect too much. Unless you get some posts from really well-known writers and influencers.

I believe this is a good practice, beneficial for both link building and SEO and improving the store reputation. The main challenge here is to find a well-reputed blog to submit your articles to. And keep in mind that the blog owner of the site you want to post at most probably will want the favour returned and post their content on your blog, if you have any.

Yes, I absolutely do.
Whether it's on an official blog, a forum thread, or even just as a standard reply or comment, I think having content across the web is a great idea. It doesn't always have to be about SEO. I like to spread my content around the web so that it can benefit the most people possible, and if people click my company website then that's obviously a huge plus. It also helps me because I can link to my other articles on my own site(s) or other pages I have contributed to. For example, today I answered some questions on StackOverflow, posted a tutorial on FP, and wrote some long winded replies to several forum topics across a few websites. I do that each day when I have time, and on top of that I participate in some daily [HASH=6]#hashtags[/HASH] on Twitter (ex: 100DaysOfCode), write blog articles, and generally just try to increase my personal & company presence every day.

For guest posting specifically, I prefer to have more long-term relationships with the websites I write for, but occasionally will write a one-off article for someone. My only requirement is that I have a proper bio at the bottom of the article so I can have a brief explanation of who I am & include a one or two line explanation of our web development company (Wubur).

It does not do too much for SEO because Google & Bing are quite smart at filtering out forum signatures, blog bios, etc, but it has definitely helped with residual traffic from real people clicking my links! 🙂

I had guest posting enabled only on one of my forums. It just sat there empty though, so I haven't done so in any of my other forums. I can see how it could create problems with spam for sure though.

My next month's goal is to get into the article writing using guest post method. I wish to build my portfolio this year.

No, i haven't done it yet but i know a fellow blogger who got good traffic through guest posting. I think i should give it a try.

I get spam from guest posting.. most posts and topics get denied
