Do you ever deliberately go offline?

Like whenever you should be working on a project of some sort. I try to close all my programs and shut down the things I don't need. I always 'appear offline' whenever I am on a messenger.. I learned to never set myself to 'away' or 'busy' as it doesn't work.

On MSN I'm always appearing offline, simply because you can guarantee it will "bingy bong" just at the most inappropriate time.......and the ruddy bingy bong does my head in :lol:

My appear offline thing doesn't work when I last tried it. I just do busy or if that doesn't work, log off msn completely. 😛

I don't use messengers, so I'm always appear offline. Now when it comes to forums, I don't have it say hide my online status.

I tend to set my status as busy when I'm doing something us. Surprisingly people seem to respect that when I've set my status to it. I never use Away though except in rare case. If I'm away I'm logged out completely.

I always appear offline on MSN when i go on (rarely) as i used to sign in and have loads of people jump on me and start talking to me. In some cases i had no idea who i was speaking with and after doing some small talk it is a bit rude to then say "Who are you by the way?" :lol:

On forums i tend to appear online except here. I only started showing offline as a banned user was constantly signing up and would quite often wait until i wasn't around (unless he wanted to insult me with his usernames) so i hid myself so it was harder for them to notice if i was about or not. I sometimes can be doing other things and just keep flicking back so i can go hours without posting here and still be here which makes it harder for them.

I appear offline on Runescape a lot, for a lot of the reasons Fowler said. I stay online most everywhere else though.

Sometimes if i find someone annoying online i appear offline on my messengers and then hide my status on forums.
I also do this when i am working on something big. I do this so i can listen to my music and work in peace.
