Do you get reimbursed for downtime? Does your host offer this?

Yes, my host does. They offer up to 100% credit of my monthly hosting cost if I get over 1% downtime. It is a shame though that I only get 100% credit which cannot be cashed out as I will most likely stop using my host if they have a 1% downtime.

Do you only choose hosts with uptime reimbursement?

I don't consider this when choosing hosts because I consider reliability and support and if they have both then I won't need the reimbursement.

Sadly, no. They have this issue with admitting they have downtime, unfortunately.

1% downtime isn't all that bad considering, thought. 😛

I really don't pay attention to this but I only use free hosts. I'm not sure if my host offers this if I were to pay for it though.

Yes. I'd get one day service prolongation for each hour of downtime, up to one month maximum. Although they do have the claim that act of "god" can be used as excuse to get out of anything, so I wouldn't expect to get anything out of downtime.

Luckily haven't run across into any as of yet.

I haven't ever looked into this to be completely honest which is bad of me. I will have to look into it but it may become one of those make or break situations as to whether I pick a host or not.

You can check their Terms of Service, (usually that's where it is) and there should be a part on "Downtime" and what constitutes as "their fault" and something out of their control.

Yes, My hosting company does offer this. For every 2 hours of downtime we have (If it's an update, denial of service, etc) We offer the user $3 In credit witch is used to pay next month.

Something is better than nothing I suppose. I look forward to moving to a different host with our forum. It's not just the downtime that we experience but the overall lack of support that turns me off. You can give me all the credit in the world but if I'm not happy with the service I will seek out a different one.

I am not sure about mine, but it didn't have any downtime since I started using it so it's all good.

Seems that the only time I have down time is when my partner screws up the site! Haha, otherwise, I don't get much down time with any host I've used. iPage has never given me problems and my sites hosted by them have always been online, with no downtime.

Act of god generally means earthquakes, tornado and so on. Natural disasters.

We offer a 99.9% uptime guarantee. Failing to meet this we refund that months hosting fee simple as that 🙂.

You can generally find hosts which try skimp on this, for example 100% - 99.9%=guarantee met, 99.8 - 99.5: 10%, 99.(and so on).
