hey,

Does anyone have a 6 core processor? Intel or AMD
I am curios to know if they see any significant performance increase over a respective quad core processor.

also post your desktop specs so we can compare.

My desktop has an AMD Phenom II X4 3 ghz processor, and I want to get a 6 core for my new gaming rig, and I was curios about the performance.

I only have a quad core on mine but what really is holding me back right now is my GPU

Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 840 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
Memory: Kingston Xfactor 2x4GB (8 GB total)
Hard Drive: 1 TB total between 3 drives
Video Card: ASUS Geforce 8500 GT / 512 MB ram
Monitor: Dell 1901FP
Sound Card: VIA HD Onboard Audio
Speakers: Altec Lansing BXR1221
Headset: Logitech h130
Keyboard: Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
Mouse: Logitech Trackman Marble
Operating System: Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit

I have a Phenom II x6 1100T @ 4.2GHz.
I'm very happy with it, though as far as gaming you wont notice any difference performance wise vs a quad because games are hard to multi-thread, especially in excess of 4.
If you often run a lot of extra things in the background while you're playing, it may help your performance that way by alleviating load from your more utilized cores. Otherwise the overall difference will be negligible unless you do some heavy multitasking or render.

Thanks for the responses

@Tucker933 - I was under this impression as well,

I don't really do too much multi-tasking so i will stick with a quad core for now,
