Whenever there's a forum for a website, it's generally because the website owner wants to have a community, or at least have a place for people to post if needed to be. However, whenever you own a forum, you sometimes make a website for it. That website could list all the staff, statistics, etc in one webpage and make things more convenient and professional.

Depending on which you own, do you have a forum for your website? or website for your forum?

For my personal website, I have a forum that I use mainly for support queries.

Well, I used to have a forum for my website, but the idea dropped after some minor problems that was happening.

we have a site which contains gaming news, but the community is a vital part. Great place to get together and engage in discussions! ^^

Forum only. No need for a portal page or a website, people would just be looking for the forum index link if I did have one. 😛

When I still had a forum, I once tried to add a website to it, in form of blog. I thought it was cool if I could display the latest news and updates before they clicked on the forum. But then it was too much work, both to install it and to handle it, and I prefer forum all the way, so I took it down. Since then I never added any website to the forum, not even a portal. Better to let guests see straight to the forum, in my opinion.
