Forum staff always play an important role to make a community forum better and bigger. I also have two forum staff. They are trying their best to make my community better and bigger. But I have some rules for them such as, when they can delete posts, can banned members and so on. I think rules will keep them in under control thought I don't want to control them. But I think its important for a community forum.
However, let me know if you guys also have some rules for your forum staffs.

Yes I do. Nothing really special, we have a thread outlining duties, how to preform those duties, and what they as a staff member can and can't do in their specific role. Pretty simple as we leave the rest up to their discretion and common sense. We do have some specific policies regarding absences, spammers, and banning so there's that.

Yeah, But not an big deal, I post what they need to know! like of an new member joins and they need to use this format. But then what staff? I don't have any :confounded:

Of course, but it's more like guidelines for how to handle situations. There is an infraction system in place. Modding is generally common sense and we trust the mods to use their best judgement.

I do request that if a user has a personal problem with a mod and needs to be dealt with that they pass the buck to another mod/admin so as not to escalate the situation. Sometimes, people can be absolute assholes, so you need to protect your staff's image as best you can by not having a situation blow up more than necessary.

I don't have special rules but I do have some instructions and guidelines in place, mostly to unify the way we deal with certain circumstances and explaining the software and netiquette for reference.

Other than that, my staff is encouraged to use their best judgement to deal with most circumstances. It has worked so far. they keep me informed and together we deal with bigger issues as they ask me directly if they are not sure how they should procced.
