My hearing isn't the best. Bad hearing runs in my family. My grandparents are very hard of hearing and won't get hearing aids because it makes them feel old. I told them that it was okay, that it's not exclusive to old age. That when I was growing up, there were kids that were hearing impaired and had to wear hearing aids in class. According to my mom though, they're still fighting it. Personally, I would wear a hearing aid if my hearing really gets bad.
Yes and no, my right ear is very good indeed however I had to have surgery years ago and since then and as a young age I have a condition called cholesteatoma
I wouldn't say that my hearing is perfect as I do have times where I struggle to hear someone and I also know I suffer from tinnitus but for the most part, my ears tend to work as intended and I don't have too many issues with hearing.
Having spent most of my life standing in front of hundreds of watts worth of amplification it's fair to say my hearing is excellent for someone who is half deaf. I also have tinnitus in both ears which is worse than cancer (I've had both).
I wouldn't say it's great, but it's not awful either. I sometimes mishear things or have a hard time understanding what someone's saying. I joke at work that I'm hard of hearing in my right ear from years of having people talk loudly in my ear through the headsets, so I can barely hear the quiet people unless I have the volume turned up, which makes the already loud people even louder. I also suffer from seasonal allergies that sometimes make me so stuffed up, it affects my hearing too.
