Do you have requirements for post lengths

Some forums require a post length. Such as 25 characters at the minimum before a post/thread is posted. At the moment, I do not have this feature on my forum.

Offhand, I think I have this set up... but it's set at like 5 characters. (Basically to stop people from posting "test" or "hi" or things like that.) But it's been a while since I've looked at/for this setting so I don't even remember. (I might not have even bothered turning this setting on...)

I have a min char of 5, think that was actually default for the soft, and it seemed wise to keep it to get rid of some "meaningless" postings.

I think mine is set at something around 5-10, not changed it from the default that myBB comes with I don't think. I'm not too bothered about setting a long requirement as most posts still tend to be high quality.

I don't put limits on posts, I find it rather annoying. If a post has enough content to talk about, you don't have to worry about a limit. 😛

I don't think a limit applies but short posts are usually deleted to minimize spam. Members are encouraged to make at least a one-liner. 😛

No length requirement, just that the post is on topic and not spam.

I find length requirements are just annoying and discouraging for people posting.

My forum doesn't have a length requirement. I don't really think it's needed.

I'll agree with the people saying that minimum post length requirements are useless. Spam messages are always longer than few letters anyways, so such limitation doesn't help in any way at all.

I don't put requirements on post lengths because I think it is fine to have slightly shorter posts in some situations. Putting a limit doesn't necessarily increase the quality of posts anyways so I don't have it on my forum.

My forum doesn't. Some posts or threads aren't meant to be long if they're quality I feel.

If you are having problem with spammers it would be a good idea. Otherwise I wouldn't think it would be necessary.

Only a few characters. That's to weed out the unnecessary "LOL" or "K" posts. Not going to happen on my forum.

Thankfully it's a silent understanding in our forum that one word posts (with exception of forum games) is not acceptable. I think people have a general understanding that if you leave quality posts then your chances of being taken seriously is better than not. I always aim to reply with at least a couple of sentences wherever I am - it just looks better in my opinion.

No not really. A short post can be as good an answer as a longer one, it's the actual content that's what matters.

I think a one character post can have meaning, That includes an emoticon, like  (technically three characters), or most simply, the caret ^ to signify agreement with the above post. Also, it is always convenient to edit out a post by simply replacing it with a dot. 😛
