Do you know how to solder? Soldering can be a great skill to learn, it can help you get a new job or heck if you get really good at soldering you could have your own business where you repair customers electronics! I have a soldering iron, I just haven't found the time to actually use it and practice. I have a clock kit I want to put together before I decide to start working on my electronics.

I spent many years hand soldering hundreds of circuit boards. It helped pay the bills but it was a pretty tedious job to be honest.

I still occasionally use a soldering iron to change or repair the circuitry contained in electric guitars, guitar amps and pedals.

Never tried it, and honestly, I feel like I'd be too scared to try. Usually when I try to fix electronics, it either goes well or it goes poorly, there's very rarely an in between. It's definitely a useful skill to have though!

I've never done it but I'd be willing to give it a try if someone had the tool and let me practice. Seems like a calming hobby...or not LOL

I've got a friend that has showed me how to solder, but that was back in high school. That was many years ago, so I'll say no. I don't really know how now.

Good for you, was it a job or were you self employed?
I was one quarter of a small business manufacturing computers and visual display units which were used primarily in hospitals and universities for vision research.

We were designing and building computers, graphics cards and hi-res black and white displays (2048 x 1536) long before MS-DOS and flat screens came into existence.

A screen resolution of 2048 x 1536 may not sound like much by today's standards but back in the 80's there were no off-the-shelf computers capable of driving such a display, hence the need to build our own computers and graphics cards.
