Somewhat, I like meeting people on different websites, forums, and social networks.

But, It can be somewhat boring since a lot of article websites like Squidoo, EzineArticles, Hubpages, etc require you to write 500 word post before they let you share your link, or your article gets rejected if it is not good enough for their website.

Using Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, forums, and other websites to build backlinks can also be time consuming.

they're all time consuming. i just keep posting in forums and rely on signatures and contents this time.

Same for me, I mostly use forum signatures, and topic posting on forums. Submitting articles to article web sites, and making blogs, websites, and social accounts with content and backlinks on these various sites can take days or months to rank high in search engines as well, and to refer traffic from these sources unless you already have a lot of YouTube subscribers, Facebook fans, Twitter fans, and a lot of readers on Tumblr, Blogspot, Typepad, Wordpress.com, weebly, and other sites.

Yes I enjoy building backlinks as I know it is going to benefit me with SERPs. It also makes me more knowledgeable by reading and commenting on helpful posts.

I enjoy building backlinks only when I know that my homepage is optimized correctly to ensure that I move up the rankings and that my time spent on the backlinks is worth it. I have used blog commenting, article submission, forum posting, and lots of other methods that have worked out great for me.

Posting your forum links to signature on forums, blogs, social networks, and other user generated content site.

I think link building and back link building are the same thing. They just have a different name.

Anything definitely helps. As an administrator, as long as it doesn't distract people or anything, I allow them in signatures/profiles (bots being the exception).

Not if it's submitting a site to a directory or doing an article wheel. The only backlink building I ever enjoy is just plain signatures on forums, because I'm not really backlink building, I'm having fun and discussing stuff.

Same for me, I mostly just enjoy signature links on forum or social network since I'm having fun posting while posting, and I'm sure to have a backlink unlike blog commenting where the blog owner is too lazy to approve comments, my comment gets lost in the spambox, or he only approves comments which he likes, and deletes negative comments with a different point of view like "Google Android Phones is better then iOS iPhone because it is cheaper, and more Open then iPhone" which the blog owner disagrees with.

Yep. I like to build back links to my forum. It is a good way to get traffic to a forum.

This is not always the case.

You may get more returning traffic and activity from members, and regular visitors by posting a lot of unique and interesting content on your forum instead of spending too much time building backlinks.

If the websites you build backlinks on are inactive, you might not get much traffic or activity compared to doing a few post exchanges with other forums.
