Do you like to take long road trips? I just got back yesterday after a 12 hour drive from visiting family. I hate that long drive but my husband doesn't want to waste 2 days and a hotel cost to break it up even though it would be more relaxing for me.
I would prefer that if I am going to make a long trip that I'd break it up and it's not a waste if you can find something fun to do there before leaving the following day.
Not at all. I've taken a few 10-hour road trips and they're miserable, especially in the middle of Idaho and Montana where there's absolutely nothing for miles and miles.
On the last one, we broke it up to four hours one day and six the next by stopping overnight. It was much more tolerable. For me, driving for too long doesn't feel very safe; my eyes get tired, my back aches, and I start losing focus.
I've driven for ridiculously long hours to remote locations during my last career so I'm quite used to it at this point. I don't mind driving for long hours as long as I have good company and or good music to enjoy during the drive. I like to stay well hydrated and keep snacks within close proximity 😛 -- I should add that it's obviously much more enjoyable driving places you may not have been in the past or somewhere with a nice scenic route.
How often do you guys stop on your long road trips? 2 hours? 3? We try to stop when we need gas and never go below half a tank as a rule. The reason for that is because one time there were 2 service centers in a row without gas (maybe one was closed and the other had no gas) and we were in a real bind.
I don't mind, used to it anyway. But if it's going to be a long trip then I rather fly to the location you know. Unless it's a road trip and stopping at different locations.
I rather take like so and so breaks as we so 3 to 4 hours drive. Got to pee you know 😛
