What if you spent at least 5 years studying on a certain field, you have graduated, and in the end you find out that you don't really like it. Would you still pursue career in that field since you have the title or would you chase something else?

My profession isn't really a long-term thing (I'm working part time as a book store clerk besides my studies), but it's okay. If I got an offer for a better or more interesting job I would take it though.

On the dilemma you raised there: I would probably try to find something part-time within that field while trying to find something that I'd like, or alternatively work part-time while taking some courses so that I could get some relevant education for whichever field I find interesting.

I wanted to see what people feel about this. I am kind of in this dilemma right now, science in general has always interested me, and as a B.S. in Food Science and Technology I could find quite interesting jobs, but than a gain, I want to freelance and do other things. I have been involved in music since my early days, and I would really like to work with music instead.

After 5 years, I graduated in the university with a course on Industrial Engineering. Our practicum was in the factory particularly the assembly line. The job was designed for men which somehow lessened my liking for my career path. Fortunately, I was hired by a bank and was assigned in the systems department which was so different than factory work. I have been a bank employee ever since and I can say that I'm enjoying my job.

Well, that is surely some change. From Industrial Engineering to bank. Honestly, even as a man, I would most likely avoid factories and assembly lines. I have had some experience on such work and it was not fun

I don't really like my job that much but my life outside of it is pretty great.

Not everyone can attain their dream job, but they can still have a rich and fulfilling life in spite of that.

Well, I don't have a job. But I mean, I'm studying Criminal Investigation & Forensics, so that's something, hehe.

Oh, that must be interesting. Are you a freshman or have you been in it a bit longer? Must be fun playing with all the gadgets, if you have the chance to do so, that is.

Been at it for about two years, only have a few months left, but I've taken a break to go visit my girlfriend soonish. It's pretty nice yeah, we do a bunch of different things, and meet a lot of important people.

Just be careful not to leave stuff inside people 🙂 A major hospital that is about 15 km away from me, considered as a central one for our county is so bad that a lot of people have had such issues. Surgeons leaving stuff in them by mistake or possibly carelessness

I love what I do right now. I'm a work from home freelance writer. It took me a while to get here so I'm loving it each day. And I agree with what you said. I think there's a way the schools system should be adjusted to ensure you have the education to do what you love.
