I know many people who get another Admin to manage the technical side of the site for them. Now, I can see why this is helpful if you have no idea how to do it yourself, however personally I think you should at least make an attempt to learn the basics. I've seen people who get annoyed at their co-admins because they do not understand what each other wants, and I think this is a bit unnecessary. It is a lot easier if you can do it yourself, in my opinion.

Anyway, do you do it yourself or get someone to do it for you?

I try to do it myself but I end up in the mybb support section a lot because of it.

I fully agree with you Android. I, for one, donot hire a co-admin to manage the technical side of things. I believe that a perfect administrator must be able to handle both the technical side of the forum as well as the community side. If you are only capable of handling the community side, then thats what you call 'moderators' 😀

This. Though I do try to hire people in leadership positions if they can do something I cannot. Like making graphics or coding stuff. Or I hire these people as staff but not under a leadership position.

It really depends on some factors and the genre of the project.

I do it all at the moment. I can't really trust someone to do every single thing as an administrator besides myself. Even though I suck at it, I do try and fix it myself.

Have a second admin on Metal Tavern, she does all the techy stuff. I've not brought her in solely for that though, We are friends who run the site together. She has good knowledge of Php, I have none. Keep trying to learn but it just goes right over my head!

I used to hire someone to do it for me as I had no knowledge of it, but after a bad experience I decided to try and do it myself and with some help from the community here I picked up the basics.

Yup, I manage both sides...though I'm not very good at keeping communities lively...:s

Yes, I went through the same thing..only that the person I used to work with was getting tired of "doing everything" even after she knew I had a real life job.

I manage the technical side of things myself. I think it's easier that way personally.

I rather do it myself, It certainly pays off when you do it yourself and know what your doing.

I've found this, it's much more rewarding too as you're doing the work yourself.

Agree 🙂

Only problem would be if the owner didn't have A PC or Tablet (only a phone or 3ds)
This is rare but Ive seen people doit. Then they would need A co-Founder.

Thinking back, I've pretty much always did the technical stuff on my forums and with my blog. The only thing I've hired people to do is to design the themes, but other than that, it's been all me with a little bit of help from my friends when I had trouble with something.

Anyone notice the song reference in my post? Hehe.

Yes, I do manage the techincal side of my site, its pretty easy on myBB.

Its easy when your on Mybb. Softwares like PHPBB might be abit more time consuming.
