I had forgotten all about Webrings, but yes, I miss those. They were great for linking sites together with common themes. I don't miss dial-up though. Back then I would only get online while I was at work, since I only had dial-up at home. I knew that if I got high speed access, I could never go back, and I was right. But then now I only have high speed internet and everything is streaming.
I also miss the role playing sites I was a part of. Can't even remember how they were hosted, but it was so much fun creating other personas. My writing got so much better being a part of those sites.
I honestly still go back and think about the old days still. I miss them so much. It's sad how much the Internet has changed and that forums just are not as popular anymore. I loved chat rooms too way back then on websites and even Yahoo. There was a website that was made when the Yahoo chat room closed for the RPers I know. It's still around, but the chat software or so is way different.
2006-2010 Internet era was my absolute favorite. I love that time period on forums. I loved having my blog, my myspace, and forums. Endless places to meet new people and chat with people! I miss when forums were the most active, but I think it's partially because our generation has moved on and are now adulting in some form or fashion, as well as, people are more active on apps on their phones rather than browsing the internet.
