Have you ever joined a forum and only posted in one or two sections? For example, you join a promotion forum and only post in Off Topic because you enjoy the community.
I've done this once before on an official website support forum. Ignored every other section, but continued posting and talking with other forum members.
Yes, I have done this. I have joined several forums and posted on off topic discussions. It is a great way to diversify your discussions and thoughts among all types of members in the forum.
Sometimes, for example, If I'm not interested or I don't have experience of the forum niche. I like to engage in general discussions and get to know the community.
If you're going to be on the forum long-term, it's a good idea to get to know major members by discussing various topics on the forum & getting to know the community.
I have done it plenty of times. Partly because I may not be interested in the other topics, but enjoy talking about whatever subject is being discussed in a particular board at the time.
I've been known to do that before. I've registered on many forums and posted in the off topic discussions. It's a real good way to get to know other forum members more by finding out what they are generally interested in.
If its a niche forum about a subject I don't know much about, I'll probably stick to the off topic forum. Maybe I had a single question to ask about the niche topic, but then wanted to stick around to chat.
Depends on the forum. If I'm only really there to advertise, then I'll post in a few select sections, but if I'm actually trying to get involved with the community, then I'll post wherever I can. 🙂
Unfortunately, more often than not, I post more in the Review HQ and Off Topic sections here on Forum Promotion. I have experience in a lot of the webmaster areas, but I don't currently own a forum, so I can't put them to use...
I believe like Twisted, I tend to post the most in the Package forum and the Off Topic forum. I also like to keep up to date in the Suggestions board and help where I can.
I have done this but it depends on what forum it is. If the forum is about a subject that I am not familiar with, then I might be seen posting in the off topic section. If I am familiar with the subject, then I try to post in different parts of the forum rather than just one or two sections.
Sometimes, that is, occasionally, I try going out into other sections and posting in them, based on whether or not I think I may be able to gain some knowledge to further my ability to want to post more in a more variety of boards.
