What are your thoughts on .community domains?
Would you start a forum with the .community extension?

Pretty much the same as any of the other newer gTLDs, they're fun and perfectly acceptable to use, I just find them harder to promote and market.

I'm in one community that uses that extension, and they use Mighty Networks as their hosted community software.

I have not personally used the .community domain extension yet. I'm still a little bit of a traditionalist. I stick to com/net/org when at all possible.

I've found that using some of these newer extensions was not accepted if using an email with it on some sites. If you had email @ domain dot community and the site you were trying to work with wasn't accepting that email it wasn't a valid email.

I disabled email verification on sign ups for this reason. The emails do work but it's slow for gmail, and ended up in my spam folder.

I'm usually not a fan of any new extensions. If I'm looking for a domain, I'll start with the .com or .net. If nothing is available, I'd rather use a hyphen between two words. But I wouldn't mind joining a site using the .community as their domain. It's cool to see, just don't want it myself.

As someone who uses a .zone domain, I do like the newer TLD and though I've never used community before I wouldn't mind using it in the future. Though most of the time I prefer to have a .com or .net but if those are taken then I look at other extensions of course.

Maybe the existence of new domain extensions is not very well-received or given much attention at the moment, but soon we may find ourselves needing to use these new TLDs. This is because most of the meaningful names in popular TLDs like .COM, .NET, and .ORG have already been taken. Furthermore, new TLDs offer a great opportunity to categorize websites in new and innovative ways, allowing users to get a sense of the website's purpose even before visiting it. This can be a huge advantage for both users and website SEO.

One possible reason for the slow adoption of new domain extensions could be their higher prices compared to traditional extensions like .COM. This may make some users hesitant to invest in these new TLDs.

If you are considering purchasing a new domain extension, it is important to carefully consider the pricing structure for both registration and renewal. Some extensions may have reasonable initial registration fees but high renewal costs, which could be a disappointment in the long run.
