Whether to run one or to be a member of one?
I think if we want our forums to succeed, we can no longer have just one niche. Back in the day, it was different. Now we are competing with social media & forums have taken a backseat. It’s hard enough to find members much less for ONE niche.
What is your opinion?
I can work with either singular niche or multi-niche forums, I just plain love forums, so I'll give anything a go 😀.
That said, I do agree that single niche forums are getting harder and harder to run because of the nature of the internet these days, so it is more and more common to be on multi-niche forums.
Just one but even if it started as a gaming and modifications website, over time I had to make it more open and offer more than just gaming and whatnot. Even so, most sites and forums are still trying so hard to get busy and it's not easy at times.
I much prefer a multi-niche than just a one-niche forum. I always like to talk about so much when it comes to a forum and having my own forum with the ability to do that means that I am able to keep the forum going with regular activity as there is so much I can talk about. I feel in some cases one-niche forums will work but most of the time, multi-niche forums are better in the long run.
It honestly depends on the amount of time and money you can commit to this project. The advantage of smaller niches/communities is that they are generally more engaged (and thus ready to buy) while the total addressable market (TAM) is significantly lower. Plus, if you’re seen as an authority within your niche, your content is more likely to remain high in the SERPS.
Multi-niche within the same realm of entertainment I guess, so for example, something like my own website, we focus around Gaming, Entertainment & Tech, all 3 niches can fall under the same umbrella and as such, we offer a livestreams showcase for livestreamers to advertise their twitch or Trovo streams, which falls under gaming & entertainment, see? 🙂
I've seen multi genre forums before, and I enjoyed them. I usually stick to one genre if I do any forum honestly. I suppose my current forum could be considered multi niche...??
