Currently, almost all websites comes with an application version of it. This is to make accessing of these sites very convenient for the users but some people still feel more comfortable using the websites address instead of its applications.

Which one is your favorite between applications and websites?

Websites, because I don't use a phone. I personally think apps just makes things too easy.

I use an tablet, not always but 20% of the time. Comes in handy if I'm away

Websites. I see the benefit of certain apps, but where there's a website version that works as needed on a mobile device I'm probably going to use that over the app.

I think part of the problem with websites (or "web apps" as the industry seems to like to call them these days) is that they can be ridiculously slow. This is particularly the case for things like Discourse which treat CPU and RAM like water.

As awful as it is, majority of people aren't going to hop on a pc to go on a forum anymore. I think having an app to go on a forum that's hopefully mobile efficient is a step in the right direction. And browser just still isn't as mobile friendly as it should have been by now. It sucks as those same apps may not look remotely close to your actual site, but in the end its what will help promote activity.

I'll go with websites because most apps are not quite as secure as their web-based counterparts.

If an App exists, and it works well, i'd use it.

Otherwise i'd default to the website.

Exactly! I have had such experience with using PayPal application and it failed to transfer my money to my bank account but had to use website and it went well.

Haha, yeah. I tried the Paypal app out, and it's just awful. :/

Seriously, I really don't understand what led the company to develop that useless app.

The site is way better and I see no need to develop the app

I normally use the web version most of the time because I’m on multiple places and it’s easier to use a browser...

This is actually why most people prefer to use website url. Using browsers gives you the multiple access to opening several tabs and do a lot of things at once.

I prefer websites. Apps tend not to be 100% user-friendly and leaves out simple things.

True! It's not every applications are user friendly. Some even tend to crash in the process of completing a task.

For sites like this one, I’m always on a PC. If it’s something like Instagram then it’s primarily on the app.
