Do you promote your site/forum to your friends and family?

Most of my family and friends know that I have a blog but I haven't promoted my blog outside of FB or anything. Most of them do not know about my forum simply because it's such a specific niche that I'm not too sure if any of them would truly be interested.

Do you promote your site to your family and friends?

I do! I have had many real life friends join my forums as well as some family members. My brother has been on many of my forums, and my cousin has been on nearly all of them. :3

My bestfriend has joined my forums in the past in middle and high school. I had another friend from school who joined a forum or two of mine.

But now I don't really advertise it to people in person. 😱

No, not really, but I do promote them to my friends that I've known for years online.

I was thinking about doing this, but many don't understand the niche that my forum is located in. Once I get some other things completed I plan on making business sized cards to hand out to those in shops around my area (and let them know about my community). Only time will tell if they like it or think that it's not really worth their trouble to visit/join.

I love making websites that I can share with people I know in real life. I told a lot of friends and family about my art website, and it's working out great. There are hundreds of people visiting my site

I mainly promote online. Generally most people who try to be "my friends" have other motives at hand and use it as a chance to target me. Due to these unfortunate circumstances I keep my forum to online promotion. However I do encourage my users to go downtown (where ever their location) and sing songs promoting my forum 😛

I talk about it but most of my family/friends aren't really forum people. The ones that are most likely wouldn't be interested in the forum niche.
