I know that some people (myself included) hate reading through a forum topic only to have each post separated by a wall of sig art, userbars and complete stupidness.

Lots of the large / professional forums restrict signatures by allowing users to only have say 3 lines of text, x amount of links and no images.

What do you think about forums with sig restrictions, and do you / would you add them yourself?

I allow a little freedom ... and kindly PM them if it gets a little out of hand

but i know what you mean by those who stack sig pic after pic and it gets ridiculos. and most of those people usually post spammish, incomplete sentences

We have it set so that the entire signature must not exceed 550x200. There s a bit of grey room if the staff member allows it.

We've got a very clear one:

* Size Limit : 500x150
* Only 2 Signatures or a combination of a Signature with a userbar allowed.

But ofcourse you always have those who don't read the TOS or Guidelines at all....

I only let ViP or trusted members have signatures. When you reach 250 post's then they can add signatures. But it all suppense on the forum you have.

I allow signatures, but I have a restriction of image size (550x180) so you don't have to scroll through long images and it doesn't stretch the page or the banner.

I have a code that reduces any extra large sig pictures to 425px x 425px max. Other than that, they can add as much as they want within the character limit. -razz-

Let em do what they want but actively moderate, when they start spamming or messing up your design and general readability.

I usually let them have free reign but if it gets out of hand i PM them to cut it down to a manageable size! 😉
