Do you guys restrict your staff's avatars to certain things? Like, maybe you don't want them to have a avatar that looks upset or has an angry face, etc. Apart from global guidelines, are you strict on what your staff has as their profiles?

I know one admin that is strict about what goes in staffs avatars, he won't allow faces with a mad type of "grin?" on them, like one would see on The Incredible Hulk. He wants avatars to be the reflection of the staff, and in a sense he want's the staff to be approachable and if they have a certain avatar members might feel as if they are not approachable, which when you think about it makes sense in a way. Would this be something you guys would do?

Nope, as long as it's not offensive, racist or anything of that sort, then I see no problem with them having their own avatar.

Talk about anal retentive...

Anyway, no I don't care what my staff use for their avatar, I'm not a control freak.

I suppose if it was something obscene and members started to complain about it, I'd remove it and ask them to pick something else. That's never happened though.

That crazy owner only makes sense if his board is his business and he's making a lot of money off of it.

As long as it's not racist, obscene, graphic etc it's fine. Avatars represent the person so I wwouldn't want to restrict them too much. The same goes for normal members.

I do have a rule on my forum where members are not allowed to have anything pornographic, obscene, racist, etc. Staff are expected to follow the rules just like the members are. But I've not had a problem with anyone using an avatar that violates the rule in anyway.

Some avatars are CLEARLY inappropriate so I don't allow those that could offend someone but I honestly have had less than a handful of instances where I had to deal with that. For the most part people choose avatars that are appropriate. What drives me crazy is when people don't go to go the effort of updating their avatar. 😉

As long as they abide by the forum-wide guidelines, then why not? although, as staff members, they would be fully aware of what they can upload as an avatar and what to stay clear of. 😛

it's not healthy to be overstrict on avatars. It's a members identity in a way, and should be kept as such. xD
