Do you still enjoy running forums?

For me my time has run out for running forums. It used to be a hobby I enjoyed but they aren't the same as they used to be. I miss the days where forums were really active and easier to get off the ground.

There are still some forums that are still active like Forum Promotion but there's only a small amount 🙁

Do you still enjoy running forums? Do you find it's worthwhile?

I agree with you on missing the old days. I don't enjoy them either as not many people would join. I do like helping other forums out.

Whilst I no longer run forums, they were a blast back in the day where you could really build a community and see a ton of activity and whilst it’s still possible these days, the effort needed for success is about 10 times what it was before!

I did enjoy running forums until 2019, where I simply gave up (and had major real-life commitments as well). Now I'm back in the game five years later but yeah, not the same as it was before... but what the heck.

While many do not run forums anymore, you all still active on forums as members posting around 🙂 It's not as famous as the old days and even so the costs have gone up also that doesn't help.

I do not enjoy it as I used to, I have to admit even that BAyside is still going hahahahaha

I think those that have stuck around and are still going clearly still enjoy (to a degree) running their forums and have potentially made peace with the fact that forums are not as popular and busy as they once were but despite that there can be some really good smaller communities out there.

I still enjoy running forums myself, I don't think I'd ever stop even though they might not be as popular as they once were. Even when they were a bit more popular, my forums never really got too big other than Mighty No. 9 Universe. I think they're the best way to communicate and share information with others. Discord is just good for chatting with others, but its not good for research communities and I hope more people realize that and go back to forums.

I continue to find joy in experimenting with them; it's simply a hobby for me.

Yes, and it motivates me when I see my members participating. I've been enjoying how much my forum has grown since I first started.

I used to love forums so much that I had many of them going at one time.

Now, I'm getting to that point again.

Forums are easy to run too. It's easy to visit multiple ones in a day and post a few topics here and there.

They're a lot easier and more fun to run than social media!

Easy if you're bored of your forum. You want to make sure you only start ones you can see running in years from now.
Well, it can be five yeas maybe more but no one knows the outcome as anything can happen to that person life

I still enjoy running forums as much as I ever did but I'm now far more focused on community building and less on the technical aspect.

That's true.

I do try to include a 3-5 year plan for every website, blog, or forum I create.

Even if the goal isn't to profit.

Planning means setting yourself up to meet objective and be successful.

We should plan for everything!

Absolutely, because my forum is a passion of mine and there is nothing better than creating a forum based on your passion. It's fun to run and makes me happy to provide for others that are in need of help.

Maybe look at offering more than a simplistic forum? I have found on my site that I get quite a bit of traffic based upon the content I create. I honestly started the site as somewhere I could post my content and make it available to others. The intent was not for outside participation, but for somewhere I was comfortable posting. Apparently it is a decent idea as I get decent traffic to the site if not a lot of activity... and in the end run, that is what all I wanted.

I run my site for MY benefit. If others get benefit from it, that is simply gravy on the taters.
I don't push my site in any way. I do link to images and such that I post, but going out of the norm for SEO... nope, I don't do it.

I was little late to join the forum band wagon, I did not know about forums when they were extremely popular around the world wide web, so I am still enjoying running forums.

I enjoy running a forum for sure, I mean yes, it is a lot of work, but it is really rewarding and fun. At times it can get stressful and frustrating but for the most part it is fun and engaging.
