I like to try to use open source software whenever possible. I really like the transparency, and the fact that open source software gives people the chance to develop their skills and get feedback from others. I don't do any developing myself, but I really appreciate those who contribute their time to help advance these projects. 🙂
Writing extensions for FP to release to the phpBB Community has been a pretty cool way to contribute. 😀
I've been meaning to get involved with bigger open source projects though, especially as a means to make my C and C++ skills more rounded. Most of my C experience is in Windows development, and I'd like to step outside that.
