Do you think ATMs are dying? Nowadays, a lot of people are using cards to pay for stuff and don't use cash much anymore. Therefore do you think that no one uses ATMs these day?

While I greatly prefer using cards to pay for things, I think that cash has a time and place. For example, when I'm buying things that I found on Craigslist from people in person, I always use cash to pay for it. Checks are too sketchy sometimes.

They have been less over the years, and people crash into them for being dicks. So Not yet since allot still using them

You would be surprised how much they are still used. Every time I go out somewhere, I always see quite a few people use ATMs here.

The use of debit and credit cards have increased way too much to minimize the use of liquid cash. Definitely them have replaced the use of ATMs drastically over the years.

Cash is annoying enough even without charges like that.No wonder people are abandoning the ATM system.

My grandma likes to go to the ATM a lot, and I personally go when I don't want her to see my actual transaction list so I pull the money out so it wouldn't be traced to what I'm doing since she can see my transactions. 😛

Every time I drive around I see many people at the ATM so I don't think it will die. And they are also used to put money into the bank now as well - so I think it's more convenient.

Certainly not in the city where I live, people que up to use them, I use a cash machine about 3 times a week. Sometimes more if I go out.

Lots of people in NZ rely on the ATMs to the point they cry to the Facebook Pages of our banks when an ATM isn't working.

I don't use them. I go in the bank for my cash because I always get a lollypop from my tellers. And they all know I don't like the green ones, but some hand me the basket and let me choose at times. It depends on how busy they are.

Not everyone gets a lolly anyways. Only us regulars get the special treatment. haha

Maybe this should be considered in a case-to-case basis. In third world countries, ATMs are at its highest peak of demand. Not all people here in my country could afford to have credit cards or even debit ones.

ATM's are very convenient as not all businesses accept debit or credit cards however not everyone carries cash and would rather withdraw small amounts when needed instead of large amounts to carry with them everywhere they go, in the event that they might need it. Every time I go to the ATM, I usually have to wait in line.

For this reason, I don't think they are dying out and I have seen many local businesses install new ones fairly recently. Despite more people paying by card, cash will always be used and ATM's are essential for this.

Yes! Most shopping I do is online and I use cards when Im out. I dont feel cash has a purpose anymore 🙁

Not at all. Every time I visit my bank there are at least 2-3 cars lined up at each atm. Not only that, but at my banks atms I can deposit cash and checks. Buy stamps and more all on top of the standard atm services. Plus, there will always be a need for paper currency. The barbershop that I get my haircut at only accepts cash. Ever try buying lottery tickets with a credit card? Good luck lol. Ever try bar hopping with a credit card? I have, and it's really difficult with drink minimums because they have to make it worth their while to incur the fee from visa/mastercard/amex etc... Trust me, I love debit and credit cards. But cash will always be king.
