Do you think certain forum templates increase earnings?

Good looking templates which goes well with your ads color and banner images might increase earnings since templates and ads which look nice might make visitor stay longer and increase the chances of an Ad click.

For example, I been on forums where the template is not very good looking like the text color and background color are hard to read like a light Grey text on a white background., and the ads has a weird color scheme which make me want to leave the forum.
 
It doesn't directly affect earnings, but it's a factor in the process, like you stated.
 
I wonder if those cheesy Myspace templates which were poorly made affected Myspace earnings in the long run since some of them were pretty poorly made and cheesy, so people rather go to the cleaner and sleeker Facebook which has plain easy to read templates, but I kind of think some of the applications on Facebook are kind of changing the theme and appearance of Facebook in a way.

I agree here. I feel that if your template is attractive then that often means additional and returning traffic which could turn into additional revenue.
