I don't see why the media would "scare" people from the Internet, but I think the media could be more positive, but shocking/horrible/weird/etc things sell.
I think they do a little bit because all I hear about is how you can get hacked or someone could be stalking you through our webcam though the internet and that makes me not want to be on it as much
I don't think it does all that much. People should interpret things in their own way. And if this means thinking of the Internet in a wrong way then that's their choice.
I do not think the media will scare anyone from not using the internet other than those that have not really used the internet in the first place.
And let's be honest, the media IS the internet, so for the media to scare people from a place where they get the most views and reads would be a bit silly, no? Most media outlets use the internet to reach everyone, and day by day the internet increases, billions of megabytes are used each day, if anything, the media is encouraging people to use the internet, not scaring them.
And I highly doubt your average person is all that scared of getting hacked, it's just one of the dangers of using the internet, just like crashing and the possibility of death by driving a car, dangers are everywhere, and in today's day and age, everything is online. 😛
