The Sound of Music is the reason why I studied at the Conservatory of Music. It's one of my personal best movies of all time. The film has the perfect casts, unparalleled production, and impeccable music compositions.

I'm just wondering if given a chance, do you think there should be a remake of the movie, "The Sound of Music?"

I agree to this topic. The sound of music was shown here when I was a toddler and I have to admit that I had seen it only when it was rerun on tv after so many years. In fact, it was replayed again on tv a few years back and again, I watched it in full. It would be great if there would be a remake since there are many good singers around. Who do you think would be the best singer to play the role of Maria? Lady Gaga or Rihanna?

nope. I rather not see the new. won't be the same and as good

Well, it would depend on who they cast for the various characters. If they have a solid cast for the parents, and not use terrible pop musicians (for example, they could go after new aspiring musicians that haven't started producing crap yet), then it could potentially have a good remake.

The new anything normally isn't like the old. For instance, Willy Wonka remake wasn't as good, though, not terrible. But the newer Wizard of Oz movie was great, but it wasn't a remake, only a Oz related story.

The Sound of Music from 1965 was a great movie with Julie Andrews singing some very cute songs with the Von Trapp family - and the opening shot of Maria was taken from a helicopter they say. Julie Andrews in the shooting of this scene tried digging her heels into the ground to brace herself- but every take, she was knocked down by the powerful helicopter down draft. They finally got a good take after a dozen takes they say! They could try a remake, but the original is always the best.

I sort of enjoyed the remake of "Annie" from a few years ago. So perhaps, a "Sound of Music" remake would turn out relatively well.
