Do you think Wikipedia is a reliable source?

Why or why not?

Completely depends on what the subject is you're researching. Wiki still maintains plenty of inaccurate and biased info and onions on their website, especially in terms of researching a person or an event. Now in terms of researching technical information it can be a great resource as often times there's no room for debate. When I was in college for computer networking, my main teacher allowed and encouraged us to use wiki as it provided great information about networking standards, speeds, protocols, etc etc.

No. If it was, I think schools and colleges wouldn't have banned students from ever using it on assignments.

Definitely not, it can be edited and defaced in mere seconds. It's a wonderful project and holds a lot of information, but it can fall pray to bad actors very, very easily.

Well, you and I can edit it anytime we want LOL

Pretty much all the information in an area I'm very familiar with, popular music is extremely accurate. For example when I converted my music collection from analogue to digital which took me the best part of 10 years, I found Wikipedia to be by far the most accurate source for historical information e.g. song name, artist, composer, date of release, record company, genre etc.

I can't comment on other areas but the way in which Wikipedia is run makes me think it's a pretty reliable live encyclopedia.

Because it can be edited easily by anyone, I don't think it's the most reliable source out there. Even when I was in college, it was always preached to never use Wikipedia as a source for papers, though I did have one professor tell me that we could use Wikipedia to get to other sources that were linked in the article in the footnotes. That said, it's usually my go to when I want information about a topic because it's generally quick and easy to understand. But if I have any doubts about the information provided, I always reach out to other sources to ensure I'm getting accurate, valid information.

I don't believe so, Wikipedia allows users to edit their information's and that will create some wrong information, and also peoples can post wrong things in order to misled peoples.

Hell no, it is however a good place to find sources, as in going to the bottom of the page to see what info links there are.

Yes. I barely use Wikipedia, but for the most part I consider their information to be true.

It is a good resource on a lot of things. However, you have to look into the sources cited for your reading to have any gravity.

I generally avoid it. Sometimes I'll get some basic info from it, but I generally don't trust it since "anyone can edit" it.

Because it is alterable I will not regard it as entirely reliable. It may help with part of my research, but I will not rely solely on it. I shall consult other sources for this matter.
