Do you use Postloop? - Part 2

I used to use postloop but I haven’t in a long time. No one would give me reviews so I couldn’t ever get forums to open up to where I could actually post in things I knew about. :/

This is my exact problem. There are gaming forums that require a 4.60 rating and I have a 4.24 rating, no one gives reviews anymore so my rating can't/won't increase. It also seems like @Beverly doesn't really seem to care about it anymore either, but i bet it's still making her a nice chunk of change......

I wish the owners of Postloop would do something to be honest and make it more accessible to people like myself who wish to utilize it but can't because we aren't a high enough rating.

Right, there should be punishment for forums that are too lazy to rate. Anyway, though, a lot of people still might not make the cut anyway.

I feel like they should have to rate no if ands or buts. I understand we get paid to post but that isn’t enough if you want to have a wider option. More incentive would help postloop too.

Well, one reason they keep the ratings high on so many forums is cause there are too many writers. The people buying simply cannot afford to use everyone.

They’ll eventually run out of people to use in general when no one has enough points to do anything, though.

The forum niches are also a problem. I mean, even with rewriting from other forums, stuff like aquarium fish gets exhausted.

I agree. They really need an overhaul of the entire system IMHO. I feel like i'm gonna be forced to purchase points just to get content to my site. I shouldn't have to do this though.

I used to use it to promote my forum but I found I would put so much effort into the posts I gave other forums but would get crud in return. There wasn't any way to curate who could post on your site outside of a broken ratings system.

I have the feeling the new owners of Postloop found out why the old owner got rid of it hence why nothing is being done with it anymore. Paying people to post was always going to lead to the mess you see. People motivated by money rarely do anything more than the least amount of effort that they can get away with. Money may motivate you to do something but not to do it well.

Given you make peanuts on there it's no surprise the quality is so poor. You'd need to make 50-100 posts to even earn enough for a single meal. That's hours - sometimes days - of work, especially if you want to do it 'well.' The only people who seemed to make anything out of it were people with tiny living costs, ie: those in developing nations or people living with their parents, or stay-at-home parents who had a partner providing a main source of income.

On a related tangent, nobody seems to have any idea how to value their labour when it comes to posting for cash. People offering, what, $5 USD for 50 posts? With requirements like minimum 300 words, many sentences, no off-topic areas, etc. That's a week's worth of work for 5-measly bucks. Minimum wage in Australia is $18 per hour and even that's barely enough to cover rent.

You either post quick-n-shit or don't eat. Pick your poison.

Yeah, money is time. Some people think good posts can be written quickly, but they can't - unless super-skilled in the niche.

Both sides need to be realistic. It's wrong if you come to Postloop and expect to see high-grade post quality; not impossible, but I bet extremely rare due to the payment rate. It's also wrong if you come to a paid posting company and expect them to pay $1 for a 20-word post for example and depending on it as the main source of income (assuming no one else pays for your daily needs). Some established writers or website owners may be able to spend or receive a lot more money, and that's good for them, but we should never start with such expectation, especially when we are only casual writers/owners.

If you really want to get a quality content and are willing to spend money to get them, I suggest using services other than Postloop.

There are a few really good posters at Postloop. But they're not working for nothing - and I can't blame them. Therefore, if you want to go there or TheForumWheel, then you need to be on there for the long-term - but that can be costly.

I considered using postloop but refrained from doing so for 2 reasons.
1. We're an roleplay forum, and unless we can find roleplayers there it's not much use. All areas aside from the roleplay forums are active enough. As I've been a postloop-poster in the past, I figured chances were too slim.
2. I heard from multiple, independent sources using things like Postloop could harm our search engine position.

These two things combined made me think the cost-effectiveness really wasn't high enough.

That might be true, but the problem is that forums are supposed to be free - un-policed. I mean, can you imagine if Forum Promotion tried to police all grammar and spelling?

Note, there was this one forum trying to police every post - and it came across as downright silly - probably equaling this SJW mess!
