So do you use Softaculous or do you install scripts manually?

Simple, easy & great 😀

Indeed, indeed. Definitely glad I don't have to install wordpress manually anymore.

Manual installing is too tedious.

I agree. Even after years of doing it, it is still a pain in the butt to do xD

I guess I am the only person that installs manually anymore only reason is because the autoinstallers change some of the files during install and I would rather do it manually.

I prefer to download a script / program from the source and then install it myself. :cheer:

Yes- mainly because it makes updating much more hassle free. 😛

Yes, I agree, one button upgrades everything for you whereas the process could be much longer without softaculous.

Although manually installing scripts is longer than softaculous, I don't think it's that bad though.

Yes, I do, and I love that there is software like that that takes the guesswork out of stuff like this.

Which is a completely ironic thing for me to say considering how technologically savvy I really am.. I can and have brought bricked phones back from [implied] death, and I don't mind getting my hands dirty with Android, iOS or even with pcs themselves, but if you put me on the backend of a server without software like that and it is a night and day difference.

You have no idea what types of crazy stuff was running through my mind when I was on free hosting with a lot of hesitation on going paid, because of what I thought you needed to do.

It is software like like Softaculous that actually makes me want to kick myself for not having had done it sooner.

I think that Softaculous it recent itself, because I remember that back in 2008 or 2009, when I was doing work on the site for my family's business, that it too, had a very similar setup to what Softaculous is today, except that it wasn't Softaculous.

It was a different panel set up, and I saw it wherever I saw that a host had Elefante-free Scripts..

I do update manually though as for some reason, whenever I updated through Softaculous, I would end up with problems over missing files and I noticed that they arent as quick to update their software to the most recent version either.

I've actually emailed my host about this very thing where MyBB was concerned.

normally i do it manually. you know what they say "if you want it done right, you do it yourself", being that i am a programmer I like to believe that statement is true. but there are times i get lazy and use a shortcut.
