Keeping hands clean is one of the most important steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. Many diseases and conditions are spread by not washing hands with soap and clean, running water.
Most of the time I'll remember to wash my hands but sometimes I'm in a rush or I'll forget. There are some people out there that don't wash their hands after going to the bathroom more than they do wash.

Imagine, after going to the toilet and forgetting to wash my hands, I suddenly feel itchy in my eyes and half-heartedly touch it, the germs that were in my hands will transfer to my eyes and make me sick, and that's not mentioning the fact that I could eat something using that same hand, eww.

Washing of the hands is one good habit and I'm glad it is part of our culture. In grade school,we were taught to wash our hands before or after an activity. Particularly before eating, it is like a ritual to first wash with soap and water. And we were also taught the proper way of washing. Wet your hands very well before soaping. While massaging your hand with the soap, sing the birthday song twice. When done with the song, that's the time to rinse.
