Do you ever play hooky and decide to not go into school/work that day? If you've done it, how often do you do it?

At my employment, I've been there for over six years and I've only missed 6 days. I went to a funeral one day, I had to take my sick husband to the doctor one day, and I was sick the other 4 days. It basically averages out to where I only miss one day a year. That's not a bad attendance record. But I've never played hooky before because I've always been afraid I'd get caught.

Being a supervisor, that'd look a bit tacky if I were to do it. Besides, I kind of need a paycheck, so yeah. I have personal time anyways, so I don't find much sense in doing something like that.

I used to do it a lot when I was in school, but never played hooky from work unless it was my birthday.

I'm like you, I kind of need the paycheck so I really don't do it. Besides, I know I'd get caught if I tried to do it anyways. There have been people that have gotten fired by my employer because they played hooky from work and they got caught.

I don't ever remember playing hooky from school. I think I was afraid I would get caught then too. The only time I stayed home from school (when I wasn't sick anyway) was when they were having finals that day. A lot of the teachers I had, didn't make you take the final if you had a good enough grade in their class (unless you wanted to take the final and try to improve your grade). So I remember not going to school sometimes when they were having finals but that was because I was exempt from having to take the finals, so I don't really see it as playing hooky from school.

I hated high school. When I was in high school, I would skip school as much as I could. I was absent so often that my teachers would often express concern or frustration to me about the amount of school I missed.

In university, I still skipped classes every now and then, but not nearly as often as I did when I was in high school (obviously). I was always afraid of missing something important like a surprise quiz or a homework assignment, so I never skipped unless I knew for sure that there would not be anything worthwhile happening.

I don't like spending my days off because I usually use them for the summer. However, I sometimes need to do something like this. For example, when I am sick or I need to get a serious work done.

I've "called in sick" and came back the next day with a sunburn. Oops. 😛

Homeschooled, so no school to "go" to, and I'm the owner of my business so I work when I feel like it 🙂

When I was in Jr. High, and for part of my High School years, I occasionally liked to take a day off. But a few teachers always found creative ways to get back at me for taking days off.

Eh, not anymore. My college course is only 1 day a week now. Really no excuse not to go in on that day.

If I miss one day of the summer program I work for, I lose a 1,200 dollar Education Award for school so, no, I do not play hookie.

I have done it when in school years ago, done it a couple times while working as well but not as much. I think within the past 3 years I've only been really sick about 3 times and can't remember the last time I've played hooky lol
