Does ads really let you make money

I believe that it will pay off eventually. I have found that I gain more money from selling banner ads more than adsence and the such. With the fear of getting banned and a random user or competitive forum user clicking ads it is a greater rest to mind knowing that it won't make a difference.

It may also turn out to be greater if you have a large forum with a lot of posts and active member base and traffic that don't like to click ads.

It all depends on:
Traffic
Placement
Ads Served

You can be very successful with ads if you address all 3 of those points.

We use infolinks and we earn about $25/month and are expected to jump to $50/month next year. We also have paid advertisers that pay us to be on our site. Those banner ads are exclusive slots and fit our forum i.e. music gear, drum, guitar, piano instructional DVDs etc.

We are a small board far as members but we get about 20,000 hits per day because we are cross linked with very large music sites and a record label so we get visits and they click away 🙂

We have 120 members with 50% active and 25% semi active with the remaining 25% inactive. We seek quality members vice members for the sake of numbers. We rather a visitor not join if they are not going to post from time to time.

Yea im making some money from infolinks too, and Ive been selling adspace for about 1 week.

@Terroz,

I just went to your site and I do not see any inline text ads do you have the infolink code embed? Also, I assume you are 18 or older because infolinks requires you send the a W9 for tax purposes.

I did not see any ads either. You stated you are or have sold ad space?

I like your site background.

By the way, if you go to Forum Topsite you can view our daily hit stats.

Im not talking about text ads... im selling (480x60) banner space... and im 16 not 18. By the way you are saying I cant use infolinks? I have it to where it will send me money via paypal.. i dont see anything related to tax.

$100 a day online will be nice. But, the most I made from Adsense is about $6 per day with about 500 impressions and a few clicks.

I think blogs and websites can be better for Adsense because you have more control of what the content is on websites and blogs rather then random general chat threads which don't make much money in my experience.
$6 for 500 impression is really great. Adsense is the highest paying add network ever

If you are not a U.S. based site then you do not need a W9 so I am in error when I state all need a W9. U.S. based clients do. Thanks for pointing that out.

They are paying me through paypal. They havent told me to do any of that.

Are you based in the US? If not, that is why. If you are, you are lucky because I did not get paid until I provided it. I am based in the U.S.

As stated you are lucky because I just spoke with the customer service folks and they require a W9. I did not state anything about your site.... I asked them do they require W9 and W8 for all new accounts and they stated, In order to be paid in the U.S. we must have one of those on file that has been verified and validated as true. If you are from another country you do have to provide a non income disclosure statement regarding affiliations with income in the U.S.

Congrats on getting an account without the forms 🙂
