Just wondering how Google is treating alt images now and if they are taking into account any of the keywords or descriptions listed in the alt tags for images when ranking a page in search engine results.

Uh...this one is a bit hard to answer, I do think they take in account the tags but as long as they somehow end up in the keyword meta content. If only tags on the forum i think they dont really have anything to do with it.

I'm not sure about SEO, but it helps for anyone who has images disabled, or if the image doesn't load. Also screen readers.

Yes, it really helps a lot for SEO as Search Engines crawl images through alt tags. So, you must declare alt tags within your image to get your image listed in Search engines.

Why?

No, you don't need to bother with the alt tags. They are a waste of time. Just name them what you want people to find them by and google will do the rest.

Hi,
Yes, Alt tag plays vital role in SEO.
Alt tags are used to describe images on website.
Also search engine crawlers use ALT tags to read what an image is or what it is representing..

Image alt text is a text alternative for an image on a web page. Search engine robots can’t “see” images, which necessitates the need for a text alternative image alt tag that they can read to understand what the picture depicts.

There are a lot of things that go into search engine placement, and alt tags can certainly be part of the optimization puzzle, depending on which search engine is in question and how you use the alt tag.

To a fairly small degree, since the search engine bots can't see the actual images (or figure out what's in them even if they could see them).

As for me, I always use Alt images on my web pages. It is really not for Google, like for people. You just can increase usability and availability of your site. Imagine like some people can use screen scraper or see the page without images enabled only Alt text can show them what the page is all about. I guess it is really vital to take into account. Try to make Alt text unique and quite descriptive for images. It will work for you.

There's no such thing as alt tags. Rather, they're an attribute to the image tag.

Anyway, I get what you're saying. So to answer your question, yes, they definitely help. But not as much.

It certainly does. I've read it all over the Internet. The alt tag is like an anchor text.
