Does anyone Support IE6?

I think these days many people have more then one browser like FireFox, Chrome, Opera, Mozzilla, Netscape, etc, so web savvy people might just switch to another browser if the page looks bad on IE6.
But what are the chances someone would go out of their way to download a completly new browser, install it, then use it just to look at your website?

True, but Youtube stop supporting older browsers like IE 6, so eventually people have to upgrade to enjoy mainstream website like Youtube, etc which make them more likely to use a newer browser to visit a site someone else built.

I used to switch browsers to visit sites which look better in IE then Firefox, Google, Chrome, etc. But, not so much these days since most sites I visit look good on most modern browser.

Google has also ended IE6 support, and so has several forum software, including guys like IPB, vBulletin, and a lot of other forum software. MSSQL/Oracle/PostgreSQL support is much more important than IE6 =/.

I think my forum is actually compatible with most browsers, although it might look better on some browsers than others. Especially for those users who have no choice but to use a browser like Internet Explorer (i.e. schools, for instance).

I'll tell you right now, no legitimate company gives a crap enough to put anything on their computers BUT ie6 or ie7. My work computer still has 6 on it and I've been calling the god damn help desk every few days asking for an upgrade to ie7 but they never do it... i know a few people who have gotten them to put 7 on but for the most part every computer still has 6.. same with my dad's office, all internet explorer 6, any type of business it's always IE. So by blocking IE from working you're effectively destroying your site to anyone who uses computers from work for personal use (like most people).

Hmmm, I bet there is a conspiracy for using IE 6. The boss probably knows IE 6 sucks for most fun stuff like Youtube, Flash Gaming, and some newer forum and social networking sites which don't handle IE 6 well compared to FireFox, Chrome, and IE8.

By using IE 6 fewer employees will play flash games at work, or go on Youtube which are huge time and bandwidth wasters. He thinks it will increase productivity by making the work computer as boring as ever, but not realizing it might decrease Employee's happiness at work because their browser is a pain to use.

When I went to Community College, the help desk installed FireFox 3.0 on all the library, computer class, and lab computers. I think when I went to a different college, there was IE 7, but no firefox.

If someone is serious about using the web for personal use at work, they can try to run the portable version of firefox, http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable of a USB drive or Boot into a Ubuntu liveCD and use the Firefox 3.5 on the Ubuntu Live CD.

Plus, you can always use a Smartphone, iPad or Google Android Tablet PC with Data plan/work/leach wifi to browse the web at work if you own one.

But, I got a feeling booting into a Ubuntu LiveCD or using an Ipad, Smart phone to browse the web is not that great of an idea since the boss might think you are "not working productively" since you are using a non-work computer or smartphone.

I made Poliwager show a message to download Safari or Firefox if any version of IE is used.

Yeah.

Firefox is a lot better 😉.
I don't think this topic is for 'I think so and so is a lot better'.

You're using an already made template, so yes it would be.
