Does reddit help?

I have been using reddit to promote my videos. It does not look like a good idea. Have you use reddit to promote your youtube video? Does it help you? I would also like some advise on how to promote my new Youtube channel.

The best way to promote anything is social media like Facebook and Twitter. They are far more effective in generating traffic than other sources.

I think Reddit helps if your videos are viral videos about computers, funny animal videos, gaming, rock music, cars, and other topics which men are interested in because most of Reddit's users are middle age men according to a video I watch on YouTube.

I tried using reddit to promote a video and it bombed.. I got a few views but mainly they downvoted the living crap out of it without even viewing the actual video. They just don't like it because there's TOO many people using Reddit as a place to advertise, so they will more than likely instantly just downvote anything that leads them elsewhere..

I would highly recommend Twitter for good traffic.
