If someone starts swearing on your site or forum does it have a negative impact on SEO? What if the domain name itself includes a inappropriate word?

It doubt swear words in content would have any impact at all on SEO although I have heard in the past that Google may rewrite your meta content if it contains swear words.

That said you may want to consider not having an abundance of swear words in your content because it will alienate a lot of potential members and if SafeSearch is enabled within the connecting client your site may not even appear at all.

In not sure about bad words in domain names but there some rather funny unintentional examples that don't appear to have been penalized for it.

Swearing on your site or forum can create a negative user experience, which might indirectly affect your SEO as it drives users away.

I think it depends on the user. I know not everyone likes swear words, and they prefer their communities to be PG but there's others who don't necessarily mind the swears. Now as for using a domain name with a swear word in it, that could potentially deter people from visiting the site. The domain name is the first thing you see anyways when you go looking for sites to visit. (Or at least it's the first thing I notice.)

I keep them out of my community altogether, since we are a PG community. But there's a project I'm starting to work on where we may be a little bit more lax. Not unfiltered, but tasteful.

I run family friendly website, therefore swear words are big no-no, I tend to believe that unless your website niche is NSFW, swear words will have negative impact.

If a cuss word is in your domain name, your site may be placed under the ‘safe search’ filter, which can reduce traffic from search engines. They might filter your site, and the same can apply to your content if it contains an abundance of cuss words. It’s best to keep such language to a minimum to avoid your site being labeled or filtered.

That is some bull poop 🤣

Good to know though, not to openly swear on my site so it don't get labeled.
