Does thumbs-down on your content bother you?

In my case, it depends on how personal it is and how much I think it's good. For instance, I know some places are rough and there will be strong words (say political discussions), but nonetheless, if I practiced the violin for 10 months, put a video on YouTube to thumbs-down, that would hurt!

OK, any stories from you all?

I don't think it bothers me at all as I know not everyone agrees with what I say and do.

It depends on whether I think you're being petty.
In general though, I don't give dislikes as that is just asking for a fight.

If it's something I've taken the time to do and produce then sure, thumbs-downs will naturally dent my ego a little but I think if that person told me why they took the time to thumbs-down me, then at least I would understand a bit more. I try to look on the bright side though and as @ChrisGrigg said, there is always someone who will not agree with what you say or do.

I don't care to give dislikes on a political forum. I especially don't care if the people are Nazis or to a lesser extent, SJWs.

Doesn't bother me. Depends on the post content and I don't like it when they disagree for something that they don't like and thinking about themselves. But end of the day it's what they agree or not agree to. I never really use the give dislikes.

Disagree seems more polite. Thumbs down is a middle finger. Anyway, I don't like thumbs down - unless it's people I really hate. However, disagree I don't see as bad, but I think it offends people. But they're being too sensitive.

Case in point, I had a post exchange with this guy. I gave him a disagree and that seemed to be his last post exchange.

I honestly don't care because if you thumb down an opinion than you are simply stating that you don't share the opinion which means next to nothing. If you thumb down a factual post and you can't be bothered to demonstrate why the facts provided aren't accurate then it means next to nothing for me as well. A post that explains yourself means far more in any case than a thumbs down so if you want to impact someone then stick your neck out and share why you disagree instead of just hitting thumbs down. You can do both I suppose but the thumbs down part really is only there to serve as a way to count how many times someone disagreed with you and that's about it.

Yeah, I don't understand the oversensitive stuff - unless it's something like a musical performance, something really personal, and some something a person has worked a lot on.

A dislike is basically giving someone the middle-finger. Literally.
It will leave a red mark on the user, even if it's just a slight one by decrementing their reputation score. People will take it personally, that is fundamentally how people work.

If someone wants to get a point across, they can make a post rebutting the other's opinion or sharing new tidbits of information. It becomes more about debating possibly interesting points and less about what you personally think of them.

Anything else just leads to a flame war. Other things I avoid to avoid flame wars include debating about politics, religion, etc.

It depends on the crowd.
