Does your company offer a pension?

My husband has a small pension from the railroad from when he was younger but that's it.

I've been pretty much self employed all of my life but after taking out my first mortgage I was persuaded to convert it to a pension mortgage with the promise of a huge (million+) pension pot which would pay off my mortgage and leave me with a pension equivalent to my yearly income.

In reality even the worst case projections were so far off base the pension pot wouldn't even pay off half my mortgage. I don't have a pension but I've paid off my mortgage and have enough money invested not to have to worry for quite a few years.

Just the 401K and I invest in some stocks.

Personally, I don't trust the 401K or the stock market that much. That's just me! I'm trying to build service-based businesses that will keep me afloat for when I retire which hopefully is never. I'd rather write until I croak lol

They don't offer a pension, not even a 401K. I've hung on over the years with the hopes of them getting it together but still no sign of an employer backed investment program.
