Now by community, I don't mean a forum.

I mean do they do community relations with their customers as a hosting service?

For example, the hosting service I use for my VPS servers has a newsletter, they do website of the month features, they have a blog, and they're very active in community relations with customers. It makes it a great experience for folks who like that sort of thing. I should get more involved with it myself but I'm always too busy.

If your hosting services does things like this, what all are they doing?

As a hosting provider, we mainly engage with customers on forums and to a lesser extent, Twitter and X.

I've seen a number of providers who have Discord servers, however the feedback I've heard has generally not been all that great.

Discord is definitely not a good way in getting information out there. Ours has a forum but it's not as used as it probably could be.

Yes, to both. I say yes to both because I have a forum and a blog. On both items, they are with different hosting and they both have their own communities there to help you with questions should you run into any problems.

I think the hallmark of a good hosting provider is an active blog. This is something you should always keep in mind, I think people are not very interested in receiving newsletters. Also, other solutions like a dedicated forum are not very popular.

Discord means a social media it is a good manner of interaction with users but not everyone is familiar with Discord it is a good point you have raised.

Discord is not social media. It is simply an instant messaging service. It is designed for quick chatting.

I haven't used the community on my hosting but their customer support is up and running. They respond to queries very promptly.
