So if your site has a Facebook page, what are you doing to get cross trafficking from your Facebook page to your site without letting the page become more popular than the forum?

I have many FB pages for each thing, from YouTube/Twitch to old pages that I had back in the day. Truth be told, I see the FB page as just another wasted time. Meaning you spend so much time trying to promote and not seeing half of that traffic going to your site.

Most people rather see FB pages with news feeds and comments than going to the post on the forums. Can make forums die or at times it can help.

No. Since it's a general discussion forum, I don't see the point of advertising it on FB as it wouldn't be effective. FB pages are more effective for businesses and companies.

For my Transformers forum I do, but I try to post updates on their rather than any content that might take way from the message board. Although it's still at the low end of the spectrum (We don't have a major website attachted to our forum as there were alreasy too many well established ones when we started), our followers have doubled in 2020 with an extra 200+ in 2021 so far.

This however doesn't translate to the message board however. Despite behind the scenes at the message board, posts about latest topics, things of interest going on - discussions, it doesn't translate from those moving away from social media to joining the message board. They might come and have a look, but won't leave the comfort of social media.

My site isnt a general forum and is more of a niche fan-forum, so is worth the effort.

Yes,being able to provide updates if the provider was to go down or the ability to share news that others may want to share outside of your website. Same reason many companies have a Facebook page, Twitter,Instagram, etc.

For my blog, I do. My blog is on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram.

Yes, I am trying to grow my social medias. Not that easy to bring attention to pages about NEWS sites, like you have to bring the whole post on insta and make a kinda duplicate, not just with a reference like you can do with a link on linkedin or facebook. But some ad agencies trying to offer me fake followers haha lucky I know that fake followers wont bring happinnes to your insta page (you can become sure here why https://finddatalab.com/how-fake-followers-affect-instagram-performance) so I am just struggling to find some people which are just subcribed to my competitors, old classic strategy. I think social media is more about ways to contact with the team, not spreading the brand or something

Yes we do! 🙂

As for Twitter former friends use twitter so I don’t bother with it because Twitter block system isn’t the best.

When I started building websites, I also started creating facebook pages and twitter accounts for each site. But later I figured out that building followers on social pages is really difficult.
