Must not be from the computer age :wtf: Anyhow, what do you think of domain hacks?

Noname.webp

He means when a domain name is like thechess.club
instead of having it like thechessclub.com, they have been clever and chosen the .club tld. It's creative.

So I'm guessing people here don't know about domain hacks either. :bored:

Is it worth buying such domains? I have seen lots of spam\trash site on such kind of domains

I would personally stick with this order:

First being:
.com
Second being:
.net
Third being:
.org
Last being:
.co.uk (or your country domain)

I'm not sure what you would call this but it's not a "hack" 😉. Just being creative with extensions

Sometimes and sometimes not, but you could say the same about .coms. However, though, marketing non .com's forces a person to mention the domain extension along with the domain - something some people might not like.

But you can't go wrong with a .com domain its the best domain to get I personally believe.

Despite the negative comments by some posters, I have seen non .com's and even domains outside of the .com .net, and .org range get massive amounts of traffic. In fact, one forum might get as much as WebHostingTalk.com. or DigitalPoint.com (and it's not pornographic).

When people don't know the domain extension, their first guess will be .com, followed by .net

If you have anything else, they're unlikely to find it without searching, which is a step that you'll lose traffic at. There's no question your traffic will be higher with a .com or .net, but it isn't a very significant numerical difference unless it's a forum with an established name.

However those that enter the domain manually tend to be the ones most likely to register, because they're visiting for the brand rather than just following a link, so it's best not to make it harder on this group arbitrarily.

There is some misunderstanding. I had a forum conversation with this one guy and he didn't understand the subject, so he thought I was speaking of something else.
