Domain name help

Well, I have a website that i'm going to launch soon, but the .net and .com domains is taken.

What alternatives can you guys give me?

I've set up everything, got the graphics done and everything. It would be a pain re-naming it. Maybe alternative Domain names like Promotion-box.net, etc..

Is the .org of your desired domain taken? There is nothing wrong with .org domains in my opinion.

I would go against the dashes in the domain name, nobody likes those.

You've got a few options:

A) Go with one of the following still available domain names:
PromotionBox.org
ThePromotionBox.com

B) Use a different name.

C) Purchase the domain name from the guy (would cost a darn lot, though)

I'd go with either option A or option B.

@ Fowler- the .org is available, but what if I use the domain ThePromotionbox.net OR ThePromotionBox.com? Would that be okay?

I would go .org if you don't want to make a bid, which potentially could still see you not get the domain. You should do fine for now, as they are parked, so there won't be a great amount of traffic to them.

Adding "the" to the front has some impact, though not a lot if you market it. It just makes it longer and longer which is not desired. Though it has a .com which is generally good for forums.

But then again, surely you would have set that up and made sure before the graphics etc. 😕
